Back Hypertherm Powermax 45XP Plasma Cutter

I decided that a plasma cutter would be the way to go to cut the metal for my projects so I tried the cheapskate method of purchasing a Chinese ICut60 plasma cutter. That was a woeful episode. You can check out the details here if you are interested. After that debacle I bought a proper plasma cutter that is largely made in the USA.

I wanted something that could cut up to 16mm (5/8") so I picked the Hypertherm 45 because of the consistently good reviews on all of the forums I checked. Unfortunately this meant paying a lot more than I really wanted to. Never-the-less I would be getting a plasma cutter that many are saying is the best in the market. After the ICut60 this was a welcome idea.

I ended up buying this from the US and shipping it in. This meant that the power plug would not be compattible with Australian power points. I didn't get that organised in time and didn't have the necessary 32AMP power point available. An electrician hot wired it into the switch board so we could run a test to make sure it was not DOA and the proper power point will be installed shortly.

For now the video just shows the unboxing and the results of testing that the machine was not DOA. I will do a more comprehensive review when the power point is installed.
